Recent ActivityThe Red Cross Club was founded at Potomac HS in 2005 and has a current membership of over 30 students. Last year we raised $650 through the Dollars for Darfur program, raised $400 for Relay for Life and also participated in Relay for Life. This year our goal is to do even more to support our local community and communities around the world. We meet every other Thursday at 2:15. Please stop by Room #180, Miss Everson's Room if you are interested in joining!

AMERICAN RED CROSS PRINCE WILLIAM CHAPTER is collecting items to support Operation Turkey. Operation Turkey is sponsored by ACTS and SERVE in PW County. Both organizations have food banks for the less fortunate. Every year they provide baskets of food to ensure everyone has a Thanksgiving Dinner. We are glad to help collect food for this great cause. We will be accepting food donations from now until November 17, 2009. Bring items to fill baskets Each basket contains: 2 cans of corn 14-15 oz. 2 cans green beans 14-15 oz. 1 can baked beans 28 oz. 1 can sweet potatoes 40 oz. 1 large box muffin or biscuit mix** 1 box or bag stuffing 16 oz. 2 cans or jars gravy or pkgs. gravy mix 1 can cranberry sauce 16 oz. 2 boxes macaroni & cheese 1 box instant mashed potatoes 16 oz.** 1 can pumpkin pie mix **We need extra boxes of muffin or biscuit mix and instant mashed potatoes. We always seem to run out of these items. YOUTH ART CONTEST TO SUPPORT THE MEASLES INITIATIVE: We will be accepting individual works of art in the form of painting, pencil or crayon drawing, graphic art or photography. All artwork must be 8.5" x 11" without a mat, frame, cover sheet, or border. No lettering, signatures, or initials may appear on the front of the artwork. Any artwork with such identifying characteristics will be disqualified and eliminated from the competition. RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE CONTEST: 3-5 minute student created video to educate people about blood donation. There are good prizes! :-) FANNIE MAE WALKATHON: November 21st in DC. WINTER COAT DRIVE: We have done the winter coat drive for 5 years here at Potomac and the coats are donated to the ACTS Shelter in Dumfries. This year the Sophomore Class is apparently doing this drive as well. We could maybe do a competition?? Bring in gently used coats to Miss E.'s room!
